The sword is the first weapon of war men made and it has had a huge impact on our history. Before the sword, axes, spears and even bows and arrows were used, but these weapons had originally been tools for working or hunting animals. The sword, on the other hand, was only meant for the fight against humans and thus has a special position. The first swords were made about 5,300 years ago and were shaped relatively simple with a bronze blade and a wooden handle. For their time, they were still the most modern weapons and not easy to manufacture. Throughout history, swords have continuously been improved and taken different forms in different cultures. Sometimes, really unusual swords were forged that look completely crazy at first glance...and these are exactly what we'll look at today. ▬ Sources ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Some of the used pictures and videos are from Adobe Stock, Shutterstock, Videoblocks, Bigstock and similar websites. In 1940, the tiny forerunner to the Waffen-SS, the SS-VT, took part in the invasion of France and Belgium. Starved of modern German weapons by the regular army, the SS-VT had supplemented its armoury with a wide variety of strange machine guns, anti-tank rifles and pistols. The are three things a real pirate couldn’t do without; a ship, a keg of rum, and a good weapon. And if you think the last one must be either a sword or a pistol, well then you are in for a surprise. Back in the times of honest swashbuckling, the weapon alternatives were nearly endless, including some truly unorthodox ones. Ever seen a pistol-axe, a hand-held bombard, or a seven-barrel flintlock gun? Ever wondered if could pirates really charge a cannon with forks? …The answer is, aye, matey! Duck’s Foot Pistol Four barrelled guns, often called duck’s foot pistols because of their quackers design, date back as far as the 18th century, and have become somewhat of a collector's item because of their rareness. In 2017, one was auctioned in London with a guide price of up to $5000 dollars. It had a walnut slab-sided butt, an ornate silver-wire scroll inlay and, of course, the unusual four barrelled design. 9. The Cornershot The problem with weapons that shoot in straight lines is that it can be difficult to shoot around something… so, that’s what the corner shot was developed for. Designed to be used in modern warfare situations, it allows users to engage from any direction, and be able to trigger while completely under cover. 8. Cemetery Gun In the 18th and 19th centuries, grave robbing became a real problem in the US and Britain. Cadavers had become valuable because the law prevented medical schools from buying them for use in research and training. Instead, they relied upon the bodies of executed criminals, and bodies that were donated, but they couldn't acquire enough for their needs. Grave robbers would steal the corpses and sell them to the medical schools, creating a black market in bodies that cemeteries tried their best to prevent. 7. The Elgin Cutlass Pistol The Elgin pistol was patented by George Elgin and made from 1837-9. It was, essentially, a .54 calibre pistol with an 11.5-inch bowie (buey) blade attached to it. The Bowie blade was added to exploit the popularity of famous knife fighters such as Jim Bowie. It was adopted by the Navy in 1838 and was mainly used by boarding parties and most famously in the Wilkes south seas expedition. 6. APS Underwater Rifle The APSj underwater rifle was created by the Soviet military in the 1970s in order to provide improved firepower to their frogmen who, until that time, had been equipped with knives and an underwater pistol. Based on the AK-74 rifle, and using a gas piston to operate, a number of adaptations were made to make it suitable for underwater use. 5. Key Gun From way before hidden guns used by secret agents, key guns were used in the 17th and 18th century as a method of self-defence for jailers who would be dealing with the worst criminals of the time. They were usually very primitive firearms, often being just a metal tube that was sealed on one end, with a touch hole on top. The jailer would have had a lit cigar or cigarette in his mouth, and touched it over the hole to ignite the powder within. 4. G.R.A.D .22 RS Knife Gun It's a well-known fact that bringing a knife to a gunfight isn't going to get you far… that is, of course, unless you have the GRAD knife gun. A modern version of the Elgin pistol, the GRAD, which was developed towards the end of the 90s, used modern design and technology to create a slick weapon. 3. Pepperbox Gun Pepperbox revolvers were the first types of repeating revolvers and got their name because they look so much like an old fashioned pepper mill. They had multiple barrels that revolved around a central axis, and virtually any type of firing mechanism could be used- including a matchlock, Wheelock, flintlock, percussion cap, and plenty more. 2. The Turbiaux Palm-Squeezer Pistol The Turbiaux palm squeezer pistol is one of the most discreet guns ever made… as the name would suggest, it’s small enough to fit in the palm of your hand. The original design was patented in Paris by Jaques E. Turbiaux in 1882, with the pistol’s firing chambers being arranged around a rotating disk, and pointing outwards. 1. Chainsaw Bayonet Have you ever looked at a rifle with a bayonet and thought it needs to be more deadly… and look more awesome? Well, that’s exactly what Robert Weir from Doublestar firearms tried to do in 2012, and the result was an immediate success. Known as the Zombie X Chainsaw bayonet, it has a 10-inch blade and can be mounted to rifles like the AR-15. Origins Explained is the place to be to find all the answers to your questions, from mysterious events and unsolved mysteries to everything there is to know about the world and its amazing animals!

In the Summer of 2022, as the Russian-Ukrainian war raged on, reports began to emerge of a number of strange objects washing up on the beaches of the Black Sea, causing many to speculate that they were in some way related to the ongoing invasion. The objects were described as large metallic spheres, and photographs posted to social media by a defense analyst named H. I. Sutton, who specializes in submarines and underwater munitions, revealed a number of attachment and access points, described by some as ‘horns’. While many suggested that the strange objects were prototype marine mines, gas generators, or pressurized tanks, Sutton stated: “They look like mines but I don't think that they are. Leading theory is part of a Kalibr submarine launch capsule but unconfirmed.” The ‘Kalibr’ referred to in Sutton’s post is a family of Russian ballistic missiles, which come in various shapes and sizes, and can be fired from submarines, aircraft, and ships... This means, some of these guns were made to solve a very specific problem, be it to clean kilns, to plink poodles, to shoot T-Rex, or to shoot around corners. Some of these inventions made perfect sense at the time, although the technology was not advanced enough, or things just did not work out the way they had wanted. All of these guns were made to solve problems that conventional firearms could not. I believe in the phrase “nothing ventured, nothing gained”, and you have to give credits to the people behind some of these firearms. They genuinely believed that it would work, and I would rather they tried and failed, rather than leaving the question unanswered. #firearms #guns #weirdest weird guns, krummlauf, bizarre guns, strange weapons, weirdest guns, unique rifles, gun, firearm, top 5 guns, top 10, list, top 5 list, badass guns, funny guns, strangest guns, funniest guns, weirdest weapons, stupid weapons,
